Dartmoor is criss crossed with paths. Much of the land is open access which means people are able to roam across it.

But - how much of this is open to people using powered chairs and mobility scooters?

The Wheeled Access Group regularly goes out to recce possible routes. Routes that a member of the group has tried in the past or has been suggested to us by a range of friends and supporters.

We assess whether these are Category 1, 2 or 3 routes as defined by Disabled Ramblers. Do these routes need a Moorland Guide to lead? Can small improvements be made to make them more accessible?

Then we decide whether the route should be included in the Dartmoor Walking Festival programme or as part of our public walk programme.
